Fiber Art Challenge

"Fiber Plus"
     Eligibility: Artists residing in Alaska or the Yukon 

Theme: Archi-Texture

A New Challenge to encompass all who work with fiber—knitters, felters, sewers, metal workers, wood workers…

Weave it, sew it, felt it, dye it, knit it, - wherever your creativity leads you – and include a non-fiber element to compete in this challenge. Any fiber media goes!
Build your entry from the fiber up and make it sculptural in nature. Hammer your way to a big win!

This challenge will compete for the “Viewers Choice” award of a gift basket.

Deadline Extended: must be received by February 20, 2010.

Entry Rules:

 Now for all that important “stuff”:
* Building Permit (Entry Fee): $20
* Completed entries must be received by Feb 20, 2010. * Compliance with the Archi-texture theme is required. Entries must be accompanied by the entry fee & signed copy of the Building Permit (entry form).
* Entries must not be smaller than 2 feet in one dimension and not larger than 5 feet by 5 feet by 7 feet.
* Entries must be free standing.
* A non-fiber element must be included.
* Each entry must have a permanent label on the bottom listing the name of the piece, the artist’s name, address, and phone number. The label must contain the same name and contact information that appears on the entry form. A paper label pinned to the entry is not acceptable.
* Entries must be packed in a cloth bag with the artist's name, address, and phone number on it. This ensures return to the artist in good condition.
* Artists are responsible for door-to-door shipment and return freight. Please put your name on all packing material so we can repack your piece with it.

Entries can be offered for sale. Be sure to include the price if you decide to offer your piece for sale; Alaska Fiber Arts Association will retain 20% of the sale price.

Alaska Fiber Festival retains the right to disqualify pieces that do not meet exhibition standards
