This challenge was introduced in 2004 with our first Alaska Fiber Festival

Alaska Fiber Festival invites you to remodel the traditional parka in your own architecturally inspired design.

All things architectural can be inspiration opportunities. A building’s design, shapes, forms, lines, curves, silhouettes, modern or traditional, tall or short, narrow or wide, hot pink or sunshine yellow.

This challenge will be judged and juried with a $500 first-place cash prize and $200 second-place cash award!

All entries will also be considered for the Best of Show award (TO BE DETERMINED, Please excuse us there was an error presented here before).
 
Eligibility: Artists residing in Alaska or the Yukon  Entry Fee: $20

Deadline Extended: Completed garments must be received by February 20, 2010.

The parkas will be modeled at the Fiber Festival Fashion Show, March 6, 2010, and displayed at the Festival March 13 and 14, 2010.  Compliance with the Arch-itexture theme is required.

ENTRY RULES 

Each entry must:
* include the entry fee of $20.
* include a signed copy of the building permit (Entry Form),
* be ready to wear,
* have a sewn cloth label on the back (inside) listing the name of the piece, the artist’s name, address, and phone number,
* be packed in a cloth bag labeled with the artist's name, address, and phone number. 

If the artist chooses to offer their parka for sale, the price of the garment must be listed
on the entry form; the Alaska Fiber Arts Association will retain 20% if the sale price.

Artists are responsible for door-to-door shipment and return freight.
Please put your name on all packing material so your parka can be repacked as received.
Parkas also can be picked up at 5pm March 14 at the Conoco Phillips Atrium.
